When you save an object in LightWave 3.5, and then load it into 3.1,
some of the surface settings are lost...
(Gone are the Tiling settings in cylindrical and spherical image-maps,
and most of the number settings - like contrast and frequency - for
Fractal Noise, Wood, Marble and Underwater.)
This is just one of those things that happens when a program is
updated and the new files it creates sometimes are not 100% compatible
with the older versions.
Based on info Allen Hastings kindly provided about what to change in
the file, I wrote this small utility to allow for problem-free
(hopefully) transfer of 3.5 objects to a 3.1 system.
To use: start the program, choose a LightWave object file to fix, and
that's it. To quit the program, just hit "cancel" in the requester.
Note: This program only runs under AmigaDOS 2.04 and up... and it will
only load objects that are less than 1 megabyte in size.
The normal disclaimers apply: I am a non-government approved,
unlicenced, uncertified, vaguely competent, semi-literate amateur
programmer... so back up your object and use this at your own risk. :-)
